What a fun and exciting trip my mom and I had planned for Grace's first road trip and Thanksgiving. Her two month appt. was the Friday before, and we planned to leave from there and drive to Abilene for the night then head to Andrews for Jessica's baby shower...and then back to Abilene on Sunday.
WELL...since we were taking my car, we decided to meet halfway in Arlington area on Thursday evening so I could pick my mom up. We decided to meet at an IHOP and have some dinner, and when we walked out of the restaurant my dad's truck had been broken into. they had shattered the back window and stolen my mom's suitcase and even Jessica's wrapped baby gift. There were so many important and expensive things in that suitcase! It was so upsetting and frustrating...not only because all these important things were taken...but because the entire trip was a waste. My parents had to go back home because my mom had no luggage, and my mom didn't get to go to Grace's two month appointment.
After the initial shock and disappointment of the whole thing wore off, I was soo angry...not because of the material things being stolen, but because it's so upsetting what this kind of thing does to your mentality. We live in this world, and try to believe in our little bubble that people can actually be good and as long as you do the right thing, everything will be okay. When things like this happen, it honestly makes you look at the world as a bad place. I was so paranoid going back home. Even stopping to get gas was nerve-wrecking because I felt like I couldn't trust a single person there. My dad was supposed to go to Abilene early that weekend, but was too scared to leave the house alone because their address was on the suitcase. It's those kind of things that the thief really took from us--pretty upsetting to think about during the holiday season. I just tell myself that the person who took those things was having a very bad year, and their going to sell the items to get money to buy their kids some Christmas presents! :)
ANYWAY---On Friday, I went to Grace's 2 month appointment (alone :( ) She is doing fabulous-of course. She weighed 11 lbs 12 oz and is very healthy. It was pretty sad, though, because she had to get her first round of shots! I gave here a little bit of tylenol before the appointment since I keep hearing horror stories about how shots can make the baby pretty sick. She screamed bloody murder for a few minutes, but was fine by the time we left the office.
I drove directly from the doctor to Granbury to pick up Mom-about 2 hours-and she slept the whole way! :) That night, after Mom packed ANOTHER suitcase- we were off to Mimi's!

Friday, we headed to Andrews! It's been SO LONG since I've been back! We stayed with my Aunt Betty (pretty much my other grandma) and she got to meet Grace for the first time!

Saturday, we headed to Jessica's shower to celebrate the coming of Hudson (may be sooner then we think!)! It was so good to see my long lost great friends from high school. It's so crazy how we've been apart from each other for such a long time, but when we see each other it's like we never missed a beat! Not only was it so fun seeing some old friends and visiting, but everyone got to meet my baby girl-and of course they loved her... AND it was her two month b-day! Oh, how time flies!
So, listen to the story of Grace's first time at church!! Welp, she had on a super cute outfit (which she got from her Aunt Ashley) and everyone loved looking at her before church started. She was nice and asleep when church started, and I just knew she was going to make it through the whole service. hahaha. Needless to say, that is NOT what happened. We made it to communion when she woke up and demanded a little food. Okay..no problem. Weeeellllll, I feed her for a little bit and BAM-the largest poop of her lifetime exploded out of her. I immediately grab a diaper and the wipes and head to the nursery. I take off her jumper and she has exploded out of her diaper all over her onesie and herself! The onesie was ruined, and it wasn't long before I ran out of wipes. SSSOOOO-I then began undressing her and putting her in the sink for a good rinse off. Finally, after drying her off with some paper towels and hanging her under the dryer I got her a new diaper and put her sleeveless jumper back on. Oh, and did I say she was screaming bloody murder the entire time??? Once I finally settled her down, I'm rocking her and she so kindly throws up all over my dress. I believe God was punishing me for waiting two months to take my daughter to church. The end. :)

On Sunday, we headed back to Abilene to spend the week with Mimi. It's always so nice to hang out at Mimi's. It's so comfortable and easy. Good home cooking. Playing games. Visiting with the fam. We even did a puzzle! On Thanksgiving day, I drove with miss Gracie all the way back to Lewisville to have Thanksgiving with my hubs and the Bolding clan, which was very nice! That evening, we all drove BACK to Abilene because we were having big family pictures on Friday morning. My Mimi, aunts, uncles, and all my cousins got pictures done and I can't wait to see them!! It was surprisingly easy to photograph all 21 of us, especially considering there were 3 infants, a one year old, and a Great Dane in the mix! :)What a fabulous first Thanksgiving to our baby girl, and here's a few more pics from our week!
