28 weeks....or 30?

How Far Along?: 28 weeks

By this week, your baby weighs 2 1/4 pounds (about the size of a large eggplant) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of her head to her heels. She can blink her eyes, which now sport lashes. With her eyesight developing, she may be able to see the light that filters in through your womb. She's also developing billions of neurons in her brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world. www.babycenter.com

ALTHOUGH...we went to the doctor today for our 28 week appointment, and I'm measuring quite a bit larger.  I had another ultrasound because my placenta has been really low throughout my pregnancy (same for Grace), but fortunately it has moved up and is fine now.  The good thing is that I got to see a much later view of the baby then I got to see with Grace.  As of today, I am supposed to be 28 weeks, but Clark is currently measuring at 30 weeks/ 2 days. According to babycenter, my baby should be about 2 1/4 lb., well---Clark was at 3 lbs. 8 oz.  AND, I'm stoked that his head is currently measuring off the charts.  That gets me all fired up for the birth! (sarcasm)
I also had my gestational diabetes test, gave blood, and received two shots today.  Not the most enjoyable appointment.

Total Weight Gain: Not too bad of a jump this time!  I've only gained 3 extra pounds in the last two weeks, so now I'm sitting right at a 30 pound gain.

Maternity Clothes: Hahaha!  Are you kidding me?  Pretty much whatever I can fit myself into--has become my clothing!

Stretch Marks: Still going strong!

Sleep: I have developed a huge congestion problem and am officially a mouth breather once again.  This is always the worst when I'm trying to go to sleep, so mouth breathing, sniffling, & snorting have occupied our bed at night.  In case Mike wasn't finding me unattractive enough, I had to throw this in.

Best moment of this week: We've been very busy the last week or so!  I have been busy bee painter preparing the nursery (along with others!) and we had one last road trip va-cay to San Antonio.

For our trip to San Antonio, we left on Friday and headed for Granbury.  We went with my parents to visit my grandparents.  We left early Saturday morning and headed that way.  Grace actually did really well on the road trip!  That evening, we went and had dinner with some of my grandparents' friends, and they have the coolest house.  They live right outside of Boerne and had a good piece of land.  There were deer EVERYWHERE.  Well..apparently, they have rescued a few deer when they were babies and nursed them back to health.  The awesome thing about this is that they literally act like dogs.  It was a crazy sight!  There was a semi-grown buck (Bucky) and a little baby fawn (Wyatt).  So cool!

Four generation photo!

Getting excited to see the deer!

Litte daredevil running out to greet the deer!

Bucky just hanging out on the porch--this is normal deer behavior, right?

AND some bonus video footage!

We discovered last year, during hunting season, that Mike has a serious allergy to deer dander/fur--something!  Well, we forgot about that and after about 5 minutes of hanging with the deer, you should've seen his face.  I wish I would've taken a picture!  His eyes were so swollen, he could barely see!  Poor guy!

Saturday, we woke up and went to the San Antonio Zoo.  I can remember going to this zoo all the time growing up, and I have to say that it's gone downhill.  Fortunately, it's only $12 a person and Grace was free--but it was pretty lame.  They didn't have any lions, camels, or giraffes--and only one lonely elephant. (All things I can remember them USED to having).  The monkeys were pretty cool and seemed to entertain Grace pretty well, but everything else was sleeping or in hiding. She also liked their petting zoo alright.  We got there as soon as they opened in hopes of the animals being up and active, but it was just too hot I guess.  Around noon, we decided to head out- but had to take a train ride..of course!

Can you see the hippo?

the lonely elephant :(

We did enjoy the petting zoo!

On the train--a little too close-up for me!

Our official CHEESE face!

Riding with Loli and Pop!

As if we weren't busy enough...on Sunday, we got up early and headed to Sea World!  Not to be a huge baby, BUT I was slightly disappointed with Sea World too!  It's just a little frustrating when the ticket prices keep going up and it seems like the quality is slightly declining.  First thing we did was check out the dolphins in dolphin cove.  They were all feisty and came up really close! Grace loved it and was fascinated.   After a quick peak at the sting rays and sharks, we headed to the Sea Lion show, which was great!!  We sat up close, but it was right in the sun and H-O-T! Grace was dwindling fast and I could tell the heat was getting to her!  So, after the Sea Lions--we headed to the kiddie water park, which she LOVED!!

After we cooled off, we headed to the Shamu show.  Slightly blah.  It was literally only 9 minutes long and very uneventful.  Grace still loved it, and you can't deny how awesome it is--BUT not much to write home about. Also, there was NO dolphin show at all! Crazy, huh?!?  After playing in the water for a little while longer and checking out the penguins, our last stop was to watch the ELMO show.  Mike wasn't sure if we should push Grace that long (show didn't start until 3:30), but she was in awe.  She loved it and was thoroughly entertained the entire time!  All in all--even though I was disappointed in a few things, Sea World is still one of my favorite places EVER!

Waiting in line to get in....very excited!

VERY interested!

To end our 4 day weekend getaway, we headed to Gruene for a little lunch and sight-seeing.  My dad had never eaten at Gristmill, so of course we had to introduce him.  I didn't eat much.  I was feeling a little blah from our weekend of craziness, but Dad made the good decision and got the chicken fry!

Checking out the river.

So, besides our fun little trip and my doctor's appointment, my other best moment of the week is the progress on the nursery!  Updates below!

Miss Anything? Currently, I'm missing laying on my stomach and being able to reach my toes!  The upside of losing all air flow when I bend over is how easy it was to convince myself I needed a pedicure.  I haven't paid for a pedicure in over a year, but I got a mani/pedi today and it was worth every penny!  Guess when one door closes--another one opens. Ha!

Movement: Everywhere! The Sonographer was commenting how 'active' this baby was.  It was rather difficult getting good shots of him because he was all over the place, but it was also really cool.  There were a couple of times that she was straight on his face and you could see his eyes blinking and he was kissing his lips.  Cool to see!

Food Craving: Not really any cravings.  Thankfully, my appetite has diminished somewhat..must be all this 100+ weather.  I just can't get enough to drink!

Anything making you queasy or sick? I finished up all my paint projects this week, and even though I got up early it was a hot mother in our garage!  The heat usually doesn't bother me, but the combination of the stuffiness of the garage and the above average temps was a lot to handle!

Labor Signs: nope

Symptoms: Nothing new besides my congested head!

Belly button in or out? Out. Completely.

Wedding rings on or off?  wedding band only--permanently. (For the next couple months anyway.)

Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy.  We've had a lot of fun times this summer and baby Clark's nursery is almost complete.  With just a few finishing touches, it feels good to have a freshly cleaned house and a prepared nursery by the time school starts!

Looking forward to: All our BIG events are over for the summer and it's time to prepare for the school year.  I have to say, I'm NOT ready.  I have been so busy- I can't remember a single second where I was bored!  At this point in the summer, I've usually done some school shopping and have been up to school getting ready for the new year.  I haven't even had time to think about that at this point!  With that said, I am looking forward to my last two weeks at home with my baby girl before the new baby comes! She's just not going to know what hit her!

NURSERY!!!

If you'll recall from a few posts ago, I had a very small, sad budget for my nursery--BUT for the most part, I've done pretty good.  I've definitely gone over my $225 garage sale limit, but not by too much!  I'll give you a run down of everything I've done and the awesome deals I've gotten!  Current $$ spent: about $500. ($275 of non-garage sale money)

So what's left?

We need to assemble the crib (with no directions) (wish us luck!) and find some type of (simple/cheap) bedding.

With the clock I got from Garden Ridge, I plan on mounting it on a pallet of some sort or old wood pieces and hang some decoy ducks from the sides.

inspiration from Pinterest

I need to get some additional misc. pieces like wire baskets for blankets/bibs/burp cloths and a laundry hamper.  I also saw a pinterest project where they used pallet scraps to make book shelves and I thought that looked like a pretty cute idea.  Here are some pins that are inspiring me!

for bookshelves

Mike really liked this...need to find a way to incorporate!

For the collage wall above the dresser

I need to get some black out blinds of some sort to hang with our current blinds--that room is bright!

I also plan on hanging one of Mike's deer mounts on the wall above the dresser, as well as some additional hunting decor.

I still need to go through Mike and my dad's garages to look for some hunting paraphernalia.  Mike said he has an old rifle that I might hang (maybe above the closet doors).  I also know that they have bullet casings, shot gun shells, and plenty of deer antlers I can work with!

Someone (hopefully Mike) needs to fix one of the closet doors that has fallen clear off the hinges. These old wooden closets are driving me crazy!

We are also getting crown molding in Clark and Grace's room.  Even though this is somewhat of an expense, we are planning on using our savings since it is a project that needs to be done to upgrade the house if we ever plan on selling it!

WHEW!  Can all this be done before school starts?  You bet I'm going to try!  We need to be productive every chance we get since Mike will be out of town next weekend and we have Clay's birthday party tomorrow!

Lilly Grace

Miss thang is growing like a weed.  We are about to start our fall session of swim lessons and are still going with one day a week gymnastics!  Even though we have our stubborn/hard headed moments, I think she is really learning as well as getting some good exercise!

She is definitely ALL girl too!  She has traded her ball obsession for a shoe and hat obsession!  Everywhere we go, she immediately wants to take off her shoes and put someone else's on.  Not very convenient.  Also, she likes to have ALL of her hats out in her room at all times.  She makes sure that her rocking horse, her babies and herself always have a hat on.  She made Daddy walk around with her pink beanie on for quite a while the other night! LOL  Here's a pic of Grace in Loli's shoes!
CHEESE!!!
Staying busy and playing hard! Until next week!
