34 weeks: Showers & Such

How Far Along? 34 Weeks

Your baby now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds (about the size of a cantaloupe) and is almost 18 inches long. Her fat layers — which will help regulate her body temperature once she's born — are filling her out, making her rounder. Her skin is also smoother than ever. Her central nervous system is maturing and her lungs are continuing to mature as well. If you've been nervous about preterm labor, you'll be happy to know that babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, they usually do as well as full-term babies. www.babycenter.com

(5 pounds!  ...and I know what a cantaloupe is!!

I have a doctor appointment this Friday, so I'll update you on some stats next week!  Just wanted to update and boast about my great weekend.  This was a weekend of showers for baby Clark.  Even though this is baby #2, I still had so many wonderful, generous friends and family that helped celebrate with me!

Last week was a pretty smooth week. Still getting into the swing of things with the start of the school year, but I think I know at least 3/4 of my students' names and seating charts proved to be a great decision with these classes!  I've said it once and I'll say it again that 4 day weeks/ 3 day weekends would create a much happier workplace.  Something about that one extra day makes such a difference!

Like I said earlier, this weekend was full of baby showers, and it all started off on Saturday morning at the Breadwinners in Plano.  If you've never been there, I HIGHLY recommend it!  I've always loved to have a good brunch here, but they also proved to have amazing service and more than accommodating for a shower.  I was so happy to see all my family & friends, plus stock up on some goodies!

Fabulous little cakes!  Nothing Bundt Cakes

Thinking about using this place for Grace's birthday- one option anyway.

With Whitney (sis in law) and her mom, Jan!

*They got me a fabulous 1 1/2 hour prenatal massage, which is awesome!  I got a little present for myself because Landon is making Clark's present--and if you know anything about Landon, you know it is going to be amazing!

Fabulous hostesses!!  Sis in law, Jessica and Mother in law, Patsy!!

Katy & Sandy!

Work peeps represent! Elena & Jennifer

Definitely need clothes!

Thanks Victoria for our first Polo outfit!  Mike was thrilled.

The whole group...thanks again! Love you all!

Trooper Victoria was sick and still made the trip! Now, that's commitment! Love her.

Rundown of the first shower---not too shabby!

During the shower, Mike took Grace to Gigi & Gikum's to go swimming- which she always loves.  This gave me time to unload all my goodies and get them as organized as possible.  Mike got home around 2ish, laid Grace (and me) down for a nap, and he was off on his first hunting excursion of the year.  He and Matt headed East towards the Wylie area to do a little dove hunting.  Don't think it was a very memorable experience, but at least he got to go for a while and Daisy got a little hunting stimulation!

Well, while they were away--the girls went to play!  After nap time, Grace and I did a little Target shopping.  I had to exchange a few things, plus get Grace a new Cowboys outfit for the Sunday game- duh!  We went ahead and had a good ole American dinner at McDonald's and Grace dominated that playplace! She has NO fear.  She ran right up to the top and slid down the big green slide...then did it about 100 more times.

Of course she had to pause for a 'CHEESE'!

Sunday morning, we got up and headed to church.  It was nice to be back after all our weekends away.  The weekly rejuvenation is nice and much needed!  After church, we did my most un-favorite (that's a word, right?) thing in the world---grocery shopping.  It wasn't too terrible since we were just trying to do the basics.  At three, I had another shower thrown by the women in our church group.  I am always amazed at the kindness & generosity of people.  It was so cute and a great time!

Yet another adorable cake!

I can't remember where she said she got it, but it's another option for Grace's birthday!

Much needed clothes and blankets!

LOVE this Mudpie baseball blanket...and Mike was also a fan!

A little recap of all the shower #2 gifts!

After my showers, there's really not a whole lot more I need.  Off the top of my head, I still need:  stroller, diaper bag, and baby monitor.  Not bad!  I'm a little worried about the lack of necessities we have, but they'll get taken care of.  We only have like 3 bags of diapers and really only have clothes for up to 3 month, but that's not bad at all!

To end the weekend, we had a delicious dinner with Tom & Patsy at our staple- Tupinamba's...and Grace got to wear her new Cowboy's outfit!

Better view of the bow...very important!

I definitely have a huge to do list (mostly having to do with Grace's birthday-next weekend!), but realistically my only true goal for the week is Thank You cards.  This is one CRAZY/ jam-packed week, so I'm trying to keep it as low stress as possible! Here's a little peak:

Monday: Grace swim lesson
Tuesday: Before school meeting, Open House
Wednesday: Volunteer work, Bunco
Thursday: After school meeting, Grace gymnastics
Friday: Doctor's appointment

Could definitely be worse, but I'm keeping my additional to-do's on reserve until the weekend.  I am also excited because we have a church group meeting on Saturday night, and Patsy has very generously offered to have a sleepover with Grace so we can have some time to ourselves. :)  We might get crazy and go see a movie or get some fro-yo or something! Watch out!

Since Mike so generously offered to take Grace to swimming today and take care of dinner, I was able to come home and finish organizing shower gifts and take a nap!  Awesome!  I also started putting together Clark's diaper bag.  We don't have a bag yet, but I'm starting a pile nonetheless!

Here's a little pic of Mike & Grace right before night night AND check out the videos of Grace doing her ABC's!  There are two videos because she likes to do them in a growl, as well.  So, you'll get to hear sweet Grace voice ABC's and monster growl ABC's!

Hope you all have a great week!  Monday is over--power through to the weekend! (Maybe Grace & I can attempt this picture some time this weekend?)
